Flash is light-years ahead of anything else out there. HTML5 is a standard on paper, but will never have a standard implementation, and it's still seeing inconsistencies in canvas output related to pixel density scaling between safari mobile and safari desktop. Same old shit.

Flash, on the other hand, is write once, run anywhere. Using FlashDevelop as a code editor is incredible, allowing me to craft complex applications with the assistance of code hinting, refactoring features, reference finding, and compiler settings. Flash Authoring is like a giant bonus where I can take any class and make it visual by basing it on the DisplayObject type and embedding graphics into it by simply assigning the class to a library symbol in Flash Authoring. This allows me to instantiate programmable, hand-drawn objects in code with a simple "new" operator. This is unprecedented. Nothing like that exists in HTML. Flash supports pixel shaders (pixel bender), a robust display-hierarchy-based event system with bubbling, phases, and handler priorities for ultimate control, a single compressed file as a payload, the ability to compile to SWC library files that embed graphics and can be referenced in other projects, runtime sharing, flash remoting blows AJAX and JSON away with it's ability to serialize type-safe AS3 classes and byte arrays from client to server (C# for example), and the list goes on. Flash is perfect for developing RIAs, and I hope it's around for a long time.

I'm a Development Manager and I've implemented SCRUM at our company and became certified (for knowledge reasons) as a SCRUM Master and Product Owner. One of things I sadly learned and confirmed through speaking with trainers is that since I am not a part of "the team" that my technical knowledge cannot be used as input to the team. This is unfortunate as I have over 17 years experience and put in place a lot of great things in this company such as TDD, Continuous Integration, etc. Many books on SCRUM have basically said that a management role, such as my own, are really unnecessary and only interfere with the team. This is kind of ridiculous since I put it in place to begin with. Even more so, I believe that unless you have stellar developers and perhaps even then, most people are not going to magically find time and have the experience to put many of the great things that I have put into practice.

Correction:
I meant to say, 'They have feature lookup tables' when I said, "They have only lookup tables".

Microsoft limits the 'simple' script Latin to feature. That is ample for the Dual-script solution. You transliterate the script into Latin taking care that it goes close to the English keyboard. Next, you use orthography to make the tables. You must be well versed in the script to make the tables. I know Singhala. Devanagari is not as complex as Singhala.

I forgot to say that romanized Singhala and Unicode Singhala can be round-trip converted in either direction. If the smartfonts are hosted by Google, then there is no need for web sites to supply the downloadable font like I do. As you see, transliteration obviates the need for the limping double-byte solution. (You can read Singhala as Latin script or native script, convenient for my daughter who was born in US and never learned Sinhala writing. The military and spy agencies may get other ideas too, such as voice to text).

Thanks.
